Here are lists of the starting items for the different classes and genders (Note: you can either join as a female courtier, a male courtier, a female commoner, or a male commoner; also note that a commoner can either be a servant or a townsperson). Special characters (canons and members of the five great families) will get special starting items appointed by me. You must include the appropriate starting items in your character sheet for it to be approved.

Female Courtier:


- 1 sewing kit, for embroidery work
- 2 sets of clothing: Color appropriate to your rank; no jewels, no fur nothing too fancy. This includes a hood (or wire hair net), slippers, fan, and gloves.
- One nightdress; silk, light embroidery
- One light gold or silver chain – simplest piece of jewelry, no jewels, just a chain.
- One personal item: nothing too extraordinary. Can be a dingy signet ring, an extremely old musical instrument, old personal diary of some relative…. Whatever.
- A book of parchment, ink, and quill, with a little bit of sealing wax
- Hygienic effects: hair brush, pins (to hold the hair in place), a little bit of scent (perfume), etc. You can just assume that you have anything you need to stay clean and well-groomed.
- Either the ability to sing very well, or to embroider very well. If you choose to sing very well, you will be a less than mediocre at embroidery, and vice-versa. Note: If you have a musical instrument as your personal item, you can also assume that you can play.
- Another ability (like drawing, painting, dancing, horseback riding, etc.)
- One maid
- One pet (a lap dog, a song bird, a cat; nothing exotic and no horses)

Male Courtier:


- 1 horse, older animal, nothing notable about it; a dull, drab sort of animal
- 2 sets of clothing: Color appropriate to your rank, only basic decorations – no jewels, no fur, nothing too fancy. This includes a hat, and either boots or slippers (you can have a pair of boots for one set of clothing and a pair of slippers for the other).
- One nightshirt; silk, slight embroidery
- One heavy gold or silver chain – simplest piece of jewelry, no jewels, just a chain.
- One personal item: nothing too extraordinary. Can be a dingy signet ring, an extremely old musical instrument, old personal diary of some relative…. Whatever.
- One sword: old, about to rust
- One traveling cloak w/hood
- A book of parchment, ink, and quill, with a little bit of sealing wax
- Hygienic effects: hair comb or brush, shaving equipment, etc. You can just assume that you have anything you need to stay clean and well-groomed.
- The ability to either hunt very well, or to use a sword very well. If you choose to hunt very well, you will be less than mediocre at sword-play, and vice versa. Note: If you have a musical instrument as your personal item, you can also assume that you can play it.
- Another ability (like drawing, painting, dancing, etc. anything you can think of)
- One manservant
- One pet (a hunting dog, a cat, a song bird; nothing exotic)

Female Commoner:


- Sewing kit (for mending and making)
- 2 sets of clothing: made from linen, nothing too colorful, no decoration. Includes an apron and slippers. (note: if you are a servant your clothing will be the livery of that family).
- One nightgown; linen
- One personal item: nothing too extraordinary. Can be a dingy signet ring, an extremely old musical instrument, old personal diary of some relative…. Whatever.
- Hygienic effects: the very basics to keep yourself groomed.
- The ability to cook and clean at least decently.
- Another ability (drawing, pottery making, painting, weaving, basket-making, etc.)
- One pet (dog, cat, bird; nothing exotic and nothing too fancy)

- Tools of your trade (blacksmith, leather-worker, farmer, dyer, tailor, shoemaker, etc. etc.)
- 2 sets of clothing: made from linen, nothing too colorful, no decoration. Includes a hat and boots. (note: if you are a servant your clothing will be the livery of that family).
- One nightgown; linen
- One personal item: nothing too extraordinary. Can be a dingy signet ring, an extremely old musical instrument, old personal diary of some relative…. Whatever.
- Hygienic effects: the very basics to keep yourself groomed.
- The ability to perform a trade rather well (blacksmith, leather-worker, farmer, dyer, tailor, shoemaker, etc. etc.)
- Another ability (like hunting or something)
- One pet (dog, cat, bird, old work horse; nothing exotic and nothing too fancy)
