Name: Keelin Etain
Age: 14
Gender: female
Class: courtier
Physical Description:
It is many girl’s dreams and aspirations to stand out from a crowd, but for Keelin she believes in the exact opposite and has succeeded in the task of becoming nearly invisible. Though please do not think her average, as she is absolutely breathtaking if you take the time to look. She is simply a wildflower in a well-pruned garden. A wood violet in a rose garden. Lets hope you get the idea.
For one thing, she’s not a tall girl, barely scraping five feet. Yet despite her shortness she doesn’t seem to come off as stubby the way most short girls do. She has a bird like figure, with slender limbs and small curves compared to most girls. Every inch of her seems lengthened and possess a natural elegance. Her skin is pale and milky as the moonlight, though not sickly looking.
Perhaps no one notices her because of her hair, as often times it seems overwhelming. Pure black locks fall down in soft waves to the small of her back, wrapping her in darkness; a personal shadow. She rarely wears it up, as that would mean she would have no cover, no safety from the world.
Her face is just as delicate as the rest of her, with refined features like a porcelain doll. A slightly pointed chin sits right under a pair of pale pink lips which rarely form a smile, but when they do it reveals shining white teeth that light up her face. Her cheekbones are prominent, and in between is a slender nose. Perhaps after her hair though, people’s attention land on Keelin’s distinctive eyes. They can be found under 2 softly curving eyebrows, and under long dark lashes. They look wide in her face, giving her a doe-like appearance.
But the color of these eyes is startling, and almost indescribable. Definitely a green, but pale and soft… The color of lamb’s ears… The color of jade, but softer, less smoky and more natural… Between the moonlight white of her skin, and the raven black of her hair, Keelin’s eyes are the main focus in her appearance.
Her dress is often demure, preferring to wear dresses of earthy colors like greens and blues and browns. Rarely, if ever, will you find the girl in reds or oranges or yellows. Make up is something Keelin had never found much use in, and her own quiet beauty is enough to get by with.
Native Duchy: Ashton
History:
Keelin’s history could be considered neither cruel nor tragic, but it certainly wasn’t always fun-filled candy and sugar-filled goodness. She was born to a Lord and Lady of Ashton the youngest, with 3 older brothers. Her youngest years were probably her favorite, when her brothers actually paid attention to her, or at least let her follow them around. She was 5 years younger than her youngest brother, with each one being a year older after that.
From age 1 to about 7 she was carried and later followed her brothers into the forests around her family’s land. They taught her all the plant and animal names, and how to walk and run quietly. Though the older she grew the less attention they paid to her until she ended up simply following them around herself. At her seventh birthday though, her youngest brother went off to school leaving her quite alone.
She spent time from age 7 to 11 in the forest by herself, or sometimes with her uncle whom was a nature lover who seemed to understand Keelin’s soltitude. Her parents certainly didn’t. Keelin’s mother had been the social butterfly of Ashton in her prime, and disliked anything that involved going outside past the front lawn. Her father was too concentrated on acting as a leader to the people in their small estate to worry about a daughter. And so she spent her time meditating, and learning everything she could. By age 11 she knew quite a lot more than many of the men working on the estate her parents owned.
At age 11 her mother grew sick and tired of Keelin’s shyness, and her silent refusal to attend social events. It wasn’t as though she threw a fit, she would come but would stand in one corner silent the entire time no matter how many young colts asked her to dance. Her mother had given up on taking her through the past few years but then she had a solution; send her off to Marcheford for an education.
…It was not the best idea, as Keelin had been absolutely horrified at being outside her familiar realm. Before that she had traveled out of their lands only a handful of times, and that had been with her brothers. Marcheford was located quite a distance from their cozy home in Ashton and the hustle and bustle of the school had thrown Keelin into such a tizzy that she got almost deathly ill.
She returned home and was then home schooled by her mother, uncle, and various others and she prospered well, far ahead of her peers and eventually her mother and uncle. All the while Keelin had prospered into a gorgeous slender creature with those wide pale green eyes. Her mother continued to insist she do something social, but the most Keelin did was visit the townspeople and attempt to help them in any way her quiet self could. During that time the commoners in her area grew to admire Keelin for her quiet strength, her beauty and her kindness. Though her father was well liked in the community, the same could not be said for her mother as she was quite proud of her heritage and rank.
Now at the age of 14, her mother has grown sick and tired of hiding away her jewel of a daughter. The Court seemed like the perfect place to show off her great genetics, and Keelin’s mother had no inkling of the torrent of problems going on. Despite Keelin’s every silent dispute, even her loving uncle agreed with her mother. Keelin needed to get out into the real world, as she couldn’t live in the little bubble of their estate and its forests forever.
Family:
Lord Connor Etain; father
Lady Aisling Etain; mother
Arlen Etain; oldest brother
Conall Etain; middle brother
Malvin Etain; youngest brother
Sean Etain; uncle
Personality:
Keelin could be considered a girl outside her own time, one of those rare few thought to have an ‘old soul.’ Not that any of the girls at court could be considered normal, not at all, but Keelin may seem particularly odd. One of the most noticeable things about her is her calm and quiet. She talks when necessary, but is not a girl for mindless chatter. She also happens to be deathly shy.
Her two greatest fears are large crowds and loud noises, as she herself is a girl of quiet and soltitude. When confronted with a crowd, or a loud noise she startles like a wild animal. She will always choose flight over fight, and even if left with no choice she’d rather hope for the goodness of others to take over rather than raise a weapon to something else. (An almost Ghandi-like philosophy)
Despite her like of quiet she is far from a lonely girl, as she often spent most of her time in the forest. At first glance, someone may not call her smart exactly… more like wise. She has a great knowledge of plants and animals, and because of her calm and stillness plants and animals, even humans, seem to flourish under her care.
Despite her nervousness in loud situations, she always tries to keep an exterior calm and control about her. Chaos is not an option for Keelin, no matter how she feels on the inside keep calm on the outside. She keeps her fear and anger on a tight rein, but her kindness and patience is infinite. She would make an amazing mother, and should she marry the people under her charge would likely adore her. However she is not close to ready to take that sort of horrifyingly scary step in her life.

Roleplay Sample:
Keelin walked towards the school, silent and lightfooted like her brothers had taught her. She was a girl with a tentative gait, but smooth and with a natural grace about her every movement. She was dressed in a gown of a soft green, her black hair swirling around her slightly as a wind blew through. Every fiber in her being wanted to turn back, this was not where she wanted or needed to be. She shut her wide eyes for a moment, letting her hand find the handle to the great door and she pushed it open.
Instantly her acute senses were met with a clashing and overwhelming amount of sights and sounds. Flashes and blurs of color went back and forth as the students went about their day. Laughter, moans, scuffling of feet, books dropped, and then picked up again. Everything blew at Keelin in a great rush that left her frozen stiff. It was quite a contrast from the quiet of her house, the soltitude of the forest, and the easy going pace of her small town.
For a girl who took everything in, she was having a bit of an overload. So many unfamiliar faces, Keelin had scarcely noticed how she had backed up into the shadows, effectively making herself invisible due to her utter stillness. How would she EVER get used to all this.. The thought of entering such a mob made her a bit nauseous. How was she to know that she wouldn’t fall down, and then be trampled to death? No no, it was much safer here on the outskirts.
Keelin you are possibly the most beautiful, kind, and wise young woman I have ever met… You could change this world, you could make it better if you’d only try. Even if you don’t change this world, if you change one person’s life it would be worth all the heartbreak I know you must feel to leave this place you love so dearly.. her uncle’s voice echoed in her mind.
Perhaps… she could help one person. And then she could leave, that would be fair enough. Her eyes darted back and forth, feeling like she was on some sort of fast circling ride as people continued to whiz by, taking no notice of the Little Shadow, or so her father called her, when he remembered she was there
Other: Also playing Audrey Shevington!
Your app is great! The only thing is, that a girl in Ashton wouldn't be going off to school; she would just be educated (what education she gets) at home. But you could just say that they sent her to Marcheford to be educated, since in Marcheford education is available to everyone regardless of gender or status. Other than that, approved on my part! :)
