The night was nearly half way done and all her previous anxieties had been obliterated by the food, wine and company. Now, Audrey could really relax and enjoy herself.
After a long dance with a dull gentleman who seemed to have two left feet, Audrey made her excuses and stood to one side, flushed and thirsty. She sipped the wine and continued to marvel at her surroundings. It was whole new place and she hoped she could visit the city again soon.
Her brother was gone. Audrey hadn't seen him all evening and where that would usually worry her she felt a little thrill at this new independence.
Feeling happy and tired at the same time. Audrey stood back to watch the dancers.
It was exactly everything one would have expected for the coronation of a king, no expense had been spared and everything was glittering, from the silver candelabras, to the people themselves everything was done up to the nines. Eavan smoothed down the skirt of her deep russet gown having scandalously forgone the farthingale and multitude of underskirts normally worn; her dress hugged the curves of her body. The corset made the most of her small bosom actually creating a slight bit of cleavage, which was accentuated by fox fur taken. The golden embroidery around the hem and along the sleeves slashed to show a creamy under gown suggested leaves and the garnets on the bodice sparkled in the light of the candles. The russet and black mask she wore suggested a fox without being blatant, and her hip length wavy red hair was caught up in a long braid adorned with garnet pins.
Several glasses of wine and several dances into the night, and Eavan was flying high on the success of the evening. It had been far more fun then she had hoped it would be. She had long since lost track of her sister, and should probably go looking for her, but she wanted to calm the heat in her face first. The men she had danced with, flirted with, and… well enjoyed the company of had made her cheeks flush and her heart race. However a promise was a promise, and she headed off to look for Maire. As she skirted the dance floor she jostled into a young woman on the edge.
“I am so sorry, please forgive my clumsiness, I fear I have drunk a bit more wine then normal.”
Audrey smiled and smoothed the creases in her midnight blue dress.
"It's fine" she said "It is quite easy to get caught up in all this merriment"
She gestured at the excited crowdsclad in vibrant olours. even she no longer felt ridiculous in her peacock style costum, a dark dress which revealed greens under slashed sleeves decorated with gol embroidery. The look was completed with a mask of peasock feathers.
"I amAudrey leventhorpe" she introduced herself "Pleased to meet you"
