So what exactly is the SCA? In short, it is a non-profit educational group that is recreating the Middle Ages (more specifically the time before the 17th century... I have seen pictures of people dressed as Aztecs and people from Japan so it's not just focused around Europe) and it's a lot of fun. When I was gone this past weekend, I was attending an event... not nearly as large as the trailer above (and almost all of what they show in that trailer is the fighting... because it was Gulf Wars, so duh it'd be about the fighting :3) but the SCA isn't just about smacking each other around with sticks and foils... at this event I went to, granted I spent most of my time on the archery range because I'm slowly becoming addicted, but I also sat in on a workshop about carving soapstone and there were also classes on embroidery, dances, games, and other fun stuff that I missed out on (but oh well).

And for the record... I REALLY WANT TO GO TO GULF WARS NEXT YEAR. The next big event is Pennsic up in Pennsylvania but I don't think I'll be able to go to that... the only person I know that is going is going for the full three weeks I think? And yeah... I think I would only be able to do a few days.

I'll be putting up some pics of me prancing around in medieval garb soon (nothing fancy, just your average sideless surcoat). Now that I've decided on my persona (I'm going to be Anastasia Talenti from Florence in the 1480s in the reign of Lorenzo the Magnificent :3) I can get some cooler garb to wear... now to just learn how to sew... but I think quite a few of you would be interested in this. I threw the link in the cbox the other day but I decided this deserves its own thread in the OOC because it's just that awesome ^_^

EDIT: Oh in the trailer, if you see the guys in the red and black tunics with the rams on them... that's the kingdom I'm in haha (Kingdom of Gleann Abhann)... just noticed that while rewatching and thought I'd mention that xD
