I am KAI. [no, it's not my real name - but it is part of it]

When most people hear Kai, they think immediately that it is of either German or Irish origin - and I am both, but it is also Welsh, Hawaiian, and Finnish, with a different meaning in each tongue. I do so love to be diverse. My full name, including surname, is very Irish. I'll place the meaning at the bottom of the thread.

As I said, my background is German/Irish, but also Scottish and Pennsylvania Dutch. Several generations ago, my forefather and his wife were transported from Germany to the Americas on a boat with 33.6 other passengers. Yes, 33.6 - apparently one of the lady passengers was six months pregnant. I like that story.

Yes I did say Penna Dutch - I'm another member of the Pennsylvanian club! Just like Fiona, I'm a 17-year old and a first-year university student at Moravian College. I'm planning on majoring in Elementary Education and hopefully concentrating on Gifted education, helping students like Fiona and myself not be bored in class. Other than English, I'm not fluent in any other language (and especially not a language as cool as Gaelic!), but I'm currently in level 3 college French, and I know tidbits of Spanish and some Arabic.

Speaking of Arabic, I'm a true-life belly dancer. I've been taking classes for a little over a year now and I'm getting better, though I'm nowhere near as good as I'd like to be. My idol is Rachel Brice [see Surayyah's signature].

Randomly enough, my mother and I both have synesthesia, which is this rather awesome little bug in my brain that makes me see colors and shapes when I listen to music. Names also have color - feel free to ask what color yours is, I don't mind. ;] It's hereditary, so I kind of hope my future kids will have it - then again, I also carry the gene for color-blindness. That would be an interesting combination. I'm also obsessed with names (possibly because of the colors xD) so if you need a name, just ask.
